SOFTWARE: Awesome Astronomy App Just Got Awesomer!

I got an exciting e-mail today. The immensly talented developers who are FMJ-Software have updated their outstanding astronomy program, StarStrider.

I've already harped about this before, but it would seem that an application which I thought couldn't get any better just got better!

While some astronomers and scientists may complain that this software is no good for planning a night's observing, it has to be said that this software paints in breathtaking beauty the majesty and splendour of creation; With the realism of a Hollywood movie, but the silent grace of the heavens on your desktop, you have to conclude that this software is indeed a work of art. There's plenty of science in there, but never have I seen such a piece of software that draws awe from the user. Never, before using StarStrider, have I looked at the screen and just said "Wow!" before going silent.

It's shows you the wonder of the universe with detail that I have never seen elsewhere and I don't see how anybody can talk about astronomy software without mentioning StarStrider.

Check out the screenshots and imagine them moving as smooth as anything can; they look like scenes from a movie or even photographs from National Geographic, but those photos are animated in real-time. I only have a 1,3Gz Pentium IV Processor but this software works like a dream! And the new features can only make the dream that much better!

I don't know the author(s), I'm not on commission and I'm not out to brown-nose them (for all I know, they don't know this blog exists) - but if I was ever to recommend a piece of software for its sheer quality and beauty, this ould have to be it!
